A sonnet for All Saints Day
In the apostle's mind the truth is clear:
the atmosphere is charged with holiness.
A cloud of faithful saints surrounds us here
awaiting opportunities to bless
our daily moments routine and mundane
with memories of happiness and woe,
those made of dust now wrapped with holy rain
that baptized them when in the world below.
We feel the mist when gathered round a grave
and weighty presence pins us to the sight
of sinners quieted by grief who have
a glimpse of Love's re-graced, refracted light
colored by contours of ancestors' faith
de-ceased by God's refreshing, endless grace.
